We send this short report informing you that the harvest has already started a few days ago in Sicily with Pinot Grigio.
From the meteorological point of view, this summer continues with Italy divided in two: Northern Italy with frequent rains, thunderstorms and a rather cool climate while the rest of the country with very high temperatures and drought, especially in Emilia-Romagna, Abruzzo, Puglia.
We therefore fear that, if the month of August continues with this meteorological trend, it is very likely that there will be a contraction in the volume of the must and consequently in the production of the Italian 2021 harvest.
We remind you that from Monday 09/08 our office will be closed for holidays for 2 weeks and we will send you a new report immediately at the end of August, when most of Italy will start harvesting with early grapes (Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, etc.).
Thanks, happy holidays everyone
